While the gambling is bound to be good in all the major casinos, there is no uncertainty about the value that can be gained at the 2013 International Pool, Spa & Patio Expo. This show is sure to be a class act, and will be located this year at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nev. The show is scheduled for Nov. 12 through 14, with the accompanying certification courses beginning Nov. 9.
Who’s going to want to refuse almost a week in Vegas?
The show planners couldn’t have picked a better venue for a pool industry trade show. The Mandalay Bay Hotel features one of the best pools in the U.S. according to trip advisor. The 11 acre “Sand-and-Surf Beach” includes a wave pools with swells up to 6 feet. The resort also includes a quarter mile long Lazy River, three other pools, several whirlpools, and multiple cabanas.
The show floor will be a one stop shopping event for developing next year’s inventory. More than 1,300 booths of manufacturers and suppliers will display products, services, and equipment for the pool, spa, and backyard. The exhibits will be elaborate, showcasing everything from pools spas and hot tubs, to barbecues, grills, landscape décor, outdoor lighting, chemicals, equipment, and much more.
The accompanying conference, held Tuesday through Thursday, is an exceptional education program, offering 68 classes that cover business as well as technical topics that are designed to improve skills and grow businesses. Specialized technical tracks make it easy to tailor specific learning objectives such as backyard living, general business, building, and more.
Business owners will want to encourage their employees to attend the conference because a brand new lineup of service professional education will enhance the show. The Association of Pool & Spa Professionals [APSP] offers professional certification with compre- hensive training that meets the needs of the ever changing service environment.
“This new level of service education is carefully crafted to vault attendees who complete the classes to the top of their game in this hyper-competitive industry we live in” said Michael Reed, director of professional development for APSP, the show’s official sponsor. “In today’s fast-moving environment, it’s not enough for pool/spa service pro- fessionals to do what they did last year. They must stay current with trends and advanced techniques.”
Led by top industry instructors, the APSP Energy Efficiency Course [EEC] is a one day course offered on Monday, Nov. 11 from 8 a.m. until 5:15 p.m. that will help participants understand the current energy efficiency requirements for pools and spas, outlined in the ANSI/ APSP/ICC - 15 2011 American National Standard for Residential Swimming Pool and Spa Energy Efficiency, which customers demand.
The APSP Certified Service Professional [CSP] is the industry’s highest level of service provider certification. It gives professionals a way to separate themselves from other providers and distinguish themselves as industry leaders.
The CSP course is a one day course offered Sunday, Nov. 10, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Attendees wanting to achieve the highest level of professional certifica- tion in the industry will also have the opportunity to take the CSP Exam. While anyone can participate in the APSP service education offerings, attendees must have five or more years of industry experience and 24 hours of continuing education credits to qualify to take the CSP exam and prep course. The program requirements are fully outlined at www. apsp.org/csp. Advanced registration and application is required.
