For more than 29 years, Service Industry News has served as the voice of the pool and spa service professional. A twice monthly newspaper, the staff covers featured stories on equipment installation, trouble-shooting and repair; water chemistry and business issues facing the industry; and news pertaining to the interests of the pool and spa technician.

In addition to the newspaper, we have produced three technical books used throughout the industry as training and reference guides. Pack your bags and head for Long Beach, Calif.

The 38th annual Western Pool & Spa Show, scheduled for Thursday, Friday and Saturday, March 10-12, is once again advantageously located in the heart of downtown Long Beach, California, and is host to hundreds of shops, restaurants and sightseeing opportunities. 

And for show-goers in 2016, Service Industry News proudly serves up some of Long Beach’s finest attractions and restaurants with great pricing opportunities.

In addition to huge discounts offered at the world’s largest Aquarium of the Pacific ($9 tickets), the historic Queen Mary, is offering 50-percent off general admission when attendees present their convention badges. And that’s not all. Almost 20 fantastic Long Beach restaurants, from pizzeria’s and hamburger joints to first class fine dining venues are also offering convention badge discounts.

With service technicians arriving in droves, Long Beach is sure to be hopping. Show organizers expect well over 10,000 service pros and exhibitors.

As one of the premier events in the pool and spa industry, it is no wonder. The show has maxed out exhibitor space, with vendors arriving from all over. The exhibit hall doors open on Thursday, March 10, from 6 to 9 p.m., and continue to Friday, from 2 to 6 p.m. and Saturday, from 1 to 6 p.m.

Attendees can look forward to 30 brand new classes, on necessary topics such as water chemistry, plastering, and equipment installation and repair. They’ve also added classes on topics relevant to California specifically, such as drought response and reverse osmosis.

Seminars are available to registered attendees, and will take place on Thursday, from 1 to 5:45 p.m., Friday, from 8 a.m. to 2:45 p.m., and Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 1:45 p.m.

As it has for the past 30 years, the show will conclude with its classy tradition of awarding one lucky winner with a brand new Dodge Ram 1/2-ton pick-up.
