Those attending can look forward to more than 90 classes on topics like water chemistry, smart business practices, and equipment installation and repair. And for those who speak Spanish, the show offers among the most comprehensive set of seminars of any in the industry.
Seminars are avai lable to registered attendees and will take place on Thursday, from 1 to 5:45 p.m., Friday, from 8 a.m. to 2:45 p.m., and Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. See class schedule and seminar locations, arranged by topic, on page 11 of this issue.
Vendors large and small will be arriving from all over the country. The exhibit hall doors open on Thursday, 6 to 9 p.m., and continue to Friday from 2 to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 1 to 6 p.m. See booth listings beginning on page 16 of this issue.
Industry members attend the show every year because it has a tried-andtrue reputation for excellence with a rich history.
In the mid-1970s, a group of visionary members of two trade associations in Southern California had an idea to create an educational program for pool and spa service technicians.
The first Swimming Pool Symposium was held in 1975. It was a one-day affair with a handful of classes and no exhibits. The pool technicians’ hunger for knowledge was evident immediately as classes were filled to capacity.
The symposium continued for three years, growing in size and popularity each year.
Tremendous interest and support from attendees and sponsors alike led organizers to the next logical step: an actual trade show with exhibitors and an extended seminar package. Thus, in 1978, the Western Pool & Spa Show was born and continues to this day as a non-profit mutual benefit corporation run entirely by volunteers.
With attendance topping 10,000, the Western Pool & Spa Show has become one of the premier pool and spa industry trade shows in the United States while remaining faithful to its original purpose —educating and training pool and spa service and construction professionals.
Combining an educational program unmatched in the country with the opportunity for industry professionals to meet and talk to manufacturers and distributors, the Western Pool & Spa Show continues to provide significant benefits for exhibitors and attendees alike.
The Western Show takes place in beautiful Long Beach. If you are not acquainted with this lovely area, here are just a few of the attractions that can make your trip more enjoyable… Long Beach is just a short drive from all of Southern California’s major attractions: Hollywood Boulevard, the Getty Museum, Disneyland, Knott’s Berry Farm, Universal Studios and CityWalk, and Magic Mountain.
It’s plain to see there is plenty to do besides getting the best pool education package in the world.
With a rail system and major airports, as well as the Long Beach transit system, getting to the show and these attractions is made easy.
But there is really no need to venture far. The City of Long Beach has become a destination all on its own, with hundreds of sightseeing opportunities, shops, and restaurants.
Celebrating its 45th year, the Western Pool and Spa Show continues to be considered by many the best show in the industry.
