Three explosions at Keith Hills Country Club & Pool, Harnett County, NC

Three small explosions were reported at a North Carolina public swimming pool when incorrect chemicals were mixed.

The incident was reported on August 14 at the Keith Hills Pool in Harnett County, about 30 miles south of Raleigh.

While the exact details of what caused the explosions were not reported, Montz Burckhardt, a spokesperson for Cambell University, which owns the pool, said that “the wrong kind of chlorine was put in the pool.”

Buies Creek Fire and EMS, the Harnett County Fire Marshal,

and a North Carolina Hazardous Materials Regional Response team responded to the scene.

No workers or patrons of the pool were injured.
