A Kentucky state senator is recovering from his injuries after driving his lawnmower into the deep end of the empty pool at his home.

State Senator Johnnie Turner, 76, was able to sit upright and communicate two days after he was taken to the hospital in critical condition on September 15.

No details were provided as to what caused his accident, and Turner’s injuries were not disclosed. Turner represents multiple counties in eastern Kentucky, having won the election in 2020 after ousting a Democratic incumbent with nearly the same name, Johhny Turner.
