A couple of very unlucky homeowners were shocked to find some highly unlikely items in their pools last month.
Ulla Berger was lucky enough, however, to be at work when a small airplane fell out of the sky barely missing her house before it crashed through the lanai screen to her pool in Deland, Florida, north of Orlando. The pilot was also lucky to walk away from the incident uninjured. According to the pilot, he was coming from the airport when the engine of the plane suddenly stopped and it fell. It is believed that trees in the homeowner’s backyard prevented a worse outcome by braking some of the aircraft’s speed.
Berger said she is grateful the pilot was okay.
“He had a guardian angel for sure. This is just material stuff. It can be taken care of,” she said pointing to the damage.
Meanwhile, in Goodyear, Arizona, just west of Phoenix, a family had just settled into bed for the night when a massive white Ford pickup truck came crashing through their brick wall before coming to rest within their pool. The homeowners said they heard what sounded like an explosion. As picture frames fell off the wall, they looked out their bedroom window and were met with headlights a scant few feet from the house.
The accident was part of a threecar crash in the neighborhood

The drivers of the pickup and the flipped car had non-life-threatening injuries, police said. Paramedics pulled a woman from the third car with serious leg injuries, but she is expected to recover, according to police.
Investigators are trying to determine what happened in the moments leading up to the crash, but the driver of the pickup truck, 31-year-old Victoria Knox, has been charged with aggravated assault and could be charged with DUI pending lab work.
