How do manufacturers handle technical support?

The heater won’t come on, it’s flashing a mysterious error code, and you’ve been on hold with the manufacturer for nearly an hour. It can be frustrating standing at the equipment pad, phone in hand, endlessly on hold or else keying in one extension after the next trying to get someone to answer a simple question. We all know time is money. Also, the way manufacturers handle customer service and technical support can mean the difference between what equipment service professionals recommend for their clients’ swimming pools.
