Western’s 46th — Big show stopper!

Excitement, education, and networking swept through the 46th annual Western Pool and Spa Show from March 28 to 30 in Long Beach, California.

This year was a high-energy, wellattended event featuring two standout organizations, Pool Nation Boot Camp and Watershape University (WU), which added to an exceptional experience for all those who are serious about success in the service industry.

Pool Nation Boot Camp, an integral part of the Pool Man University initiative, shone at the show, with its two-day, hands-on educational program tailored exclusively for pool service professionals. For only $200, attendees got a pass to the Boot Camp, a tour de force of pool equipment installations, including pumps, heaters, salt systems, and automation. The pass also included access to all of the regularly scheduled Western Show education the show floor. Meanwhile, Watershape University taught construction-based courses like the Essential Plaster Workshop, Thoughtful Equipment Installations, and Pool Tile Installation, or servicebased courses like Electricity, Bonding, and Controls for Service Professionals.

With nearly countless eclectic restaurants, shops and nearby attractions, the Western Show is always an event for pool pros to bring the whole family. As pool industry members network, take classes, and walk the show floor, the kids can run off to Disneyland, go surfing, or walk over to the nearby Aquarium of the Pacific.

The excitement didn’t end with education and innovation; the Western Show also had valuable door prizes up for grabs every hour.

And as usual, the show ended with a huge prize.

Some years it’s a brand-new truck, some years it’s cold, hard cash. Either way, theluckywinnerisalwaysecstatic.

This year, Justin Guevarra, a 24-year-old, second-generation pool technician of South Bay Pool Pros in San Pedro, California, won a $20,000 cash prize on the last day of the show, and was he ever thrilled!

“I’ve never won anything this kind of crazy!” Guevarra said. “This is astronomical!”
