Thirteen children were treated for chemical inhalation following a chlorine gas release at a California swimming pool club.

The children were experiencing shortness of breath and lung irritation after a suspected chemical release in the pool.

The incident occurred at The Club at Livermore on April 14.

At the request of the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department, three fire engines, one truck company, and five ambulances responded to the scene, accompanied by a hazmat team, two battalion chiefs, and an EMS supervisor.

Three children were transported to area hospitals with minor injuries. The remaining children were released to their parents or guardians on scene.

The cause of the chemical release was being investigated.
