Man drives car into swimming pool

A man died after driving his car into a backyard swimming pool.

The fatal incident occurred in Brea, California, on April 18, when the man drove his car through a residential garage and into the backyard.

Four responding police officers found the man in the driver’s seat of the partially submerged car and jumped into the water to rescue him. Firefighters arrived shortly after and were able to remove the man from the vehicle. The man was declared dead at the scene.

Authorities believe the man drove his vehicle through the garage and part of the house — which is believed to be his — before landing in the pool. The man’s identity was not released.
