A recall of approximately 2,390 Sunneday and Blue Bay brand aboveground pools has been issued by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission due to a potential drowning hazard involving the pools’ external compression strap.
The recall, issued January 29, 2026 (Recall No. 26-227), affects 48-inch and taller aboveground pools manufactured by Starmatrix Group Inc., of China.
According to the CPSC, the compression strap — also referred to as a reinforcing belt — that wraps around the outside of the vertical support poles may create a foothold. This foothold can allow a child to climb into the pool, posing a serious drowning risk. Importantly, children can still gain access to the pool using these footholds even if the ladder is removed.
No incidents or injuries have been reported to date.
Model information and the Sunneday or Blue Bay logo are printed on the liner on the outside of the pool.
The following models are included: 70018 – Sunneday Oasis Cottage 18’ x 52” (UPC 850022858529).
70024 – Sunneday Oasis Cottage 24’ x 52” (UPC 850022858536).
358015W – Blue Bay Softsided Pool 15’x 48” (UPC 191127003583).

The recalled pools were sold online at Amazon.com and sunneday. com from January 2024 through October 2025. Retail prices ranged from approximately $500 to $1,210, depending on size, model and accessories.
The CPSC is advising consumers to contact Starmatrix to request a free repair kit. Until the repair can be installed, pool owners should ensure that children cannot access the pool unattended. Alternatively, consumers are advised to drain the pool until the repair has been completed.
