NESPA: Representing northeast pool service

The Northeast Spa & Pool Association (NESPA) serves as a central hub for pool and spa professionals in the northeastern United States, offering service companies a blend of education, advocacy, and business support that directly impacts daily operations and long-term growth.

Founded in 1958, NESPA is one of the industry’s oldest regional trade associations, representing professionals across Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. Its membership includes service technicians, builders, retailers, and suppliers, all connected through a regional network headquartered in Hamilton, New Jersey. For more than six decades, NESPA has focused on advancing professionalism while responding to the needs of the industry.

A defining feature of NESPA membership is its “triple return on investment.” Members automatically belong to NESPA, a local chapter, and the Pool & Hot Tub Alliance (PHTA), providing access to local, regional, and national resources through a single membership.

Education is a core strength. NESPA offers year-round technical and business training through webinars, certification courses, and hands-on learning. Members also benefit from The Pool & Spa Show in Atlantic City, one of the industry’s largest events, with access to extensive education sessions and, in some cases, complimentary technical passes. For service companies, this helps technicians stay current on equipment, water chemistry, and service techniques, reducing errors and improving customer satisfaction.

NESPA also supports the business side of operations, offering access to insurance programs, payroll and human resources services, and other tools designed to improve efficiency and growth.

Advocacy remains a key function. NESPA monitors legislation and works with policymakers across its region on safety regulations, environmental policies, and business requirements, helping reduce uncertainty and ensure industry representation.

Its structure is built on four regional chapters that provide in-person meetings, training, and collaboration — creating opportunities for mentorship, troubleshooting, and relationship building.

Additional benefits include industry news, technical updates, code information, discounts, and marketing tools such as consumerfacing directories. Membership is approximately $747 annually and includes PHTA and chapter access.

For service professionals, NESPA delivers more than affiliation — it provides education, advocacy, and a network that supports long-term success.
