Pool service revenue driving industry growth
Manufacturers report demand is strong for service, maintenance and repair on existing swimming pools

The latest earnings reports from the pool industry’s major public companies show that current performance is being driven primarily by maintenance and replacement demand — not new pool construction.

The industry’s largest public companies — including Pool Corporation, Pentair plc, Fluidra S.A., and Hayward Holdings Inc. — are all pointing to the same conclusion: Industry performance now depends more on maintaining existing pools than building new ones.

In its most recent financial update, Pool Corporation — the industry’s largest distributor — announced first-quarter sales increased about 6 percent to $1.1 billion, following a flat 2025 at approximately $5.3 billion. Roughly 3 percent of that came from pricing increases and about 2 percent came from higher sales volume. The company attributed much of that volume to seasonal maintenance work and demand tied to existing pools rather than new construction.

During its April 23 Q1 2026 earnings call, Pool Corp former CEO Peter Arvan said, “Maintenance demand remained resilient.”

He also made clear that the

Pentair plc described similar trends. The company’s Q1 2026 earnings release and April 2026 call commentary indicate that pool market volume — meaning the number of units sold across the industry — is expected to remain relatively flat. Pentair reported first-quarter sales of approximately $1.04 billion, up about 3 percent.

The company also projected strong earnings growth for 2026 despite slow market growth.

Fluidra S.A., discussing full-year 2025 results during its February 2026 earnings call, described the same dynamic. On that call, CEO Jaime Ramirez said, “Demand for new builds remain slightly negative across our markets. Aftermarket activity was solid.”

Looking ahead, Fluidra emphasized that maintenance-driven demand will remain central to business performance in 2026. “We expect residential aftermarket — meaning maintenance, repair, and replacement work on existing pools — to grow low single digits, reflecting the resilience of demand to maintain the installed base.” During a recent analyst presentation, Ramirez also said, “The best opportunity to continue gaining market share is in the aftermarket.” At Hayward Holdings Inc., firstquarter 2026 results reinforced the same pattern.

During its April 29, 2026 earnings call, CEO Kevin Holleran said, “These results underscore the strength of our predominantly installed base aftermarket business model.”

The company also quantified the extent of that dependence: “Approximately 85 percent of our sales [are] derived from serving the aftermarket needs of a large and growing installed base.”

That “installed base” refers to the millions of existing pools already in service — and the ongoing need to maintain, repair, replace, and upgrade equipment.

These statements from the industry’s largest players — supported by the underlying financial results — form a consistent picture across both distribution and manufacturing.

Across the sector, modest revenue growth is being supported primarily by servicing existing pools rather than new construction.

The pandemic-era construction surge has faded, and recent results increasingly reflect the economics of servicing existing pools.

New construction remains part of the market, but recent performance suggests it is no longer the primary driver of industry results.

Unlike construction activity, maintenance demand continues even during slower housing and consumer spending cycles.

For service professionals, that shift represents a change in emphasis rather than a decline in opportunity.

The first quarter does not define the full year. But it does provide a clear snapshot of current conditions.
