The park closed temporarily following the incident while crews investigated. After evaluating the facility and confirming normal operating conditions, officials allowed the waterpark to reopen.

Pawnee Plunge had opened for the season on May 23, just over a week before the exposure event occurred.

The facility features multiple water slides, a lazy river, a FlowRider surf simulator, diving areas, spray features, and children's aquatic attractions.

As of press time, no detailed incident report had been released explaining precisely how the chlorine gas accumulated or what conditions allowed it to be released.

The incident remains under investigation.
