PIE cancelled in 2020

For the first time in 33 years, the Pool Industry Expo’s Fall show was cancelled due to the Coronavirus pandemic. The three-day event, which caters predominantly to pool service professionals, was scheduled to take place at its traditional date and location in Monterey, California.

Organizers announced the decision on July 13 as Covid cases have surged in California and elsewhere.

“After careful consultation with our partners at the Monterey Convention Center, the Portola Plaza Hotel, and our Tradeshow services vendor regarding the health and safety of the members of our industry, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the Pool Industry Expo event scheduled for September 24 – 26 of this year.

“Following increased and overwhelming concerns about the Covid-19 virus, we felt it was the best way to proceed during such an unprecedented situation. We are very disappointed that we are unable to hold this event for our exhibitors, attendees and industry supporters. But we know it’s the right decision based on the current information available.”

After the Western Pool and Spa Show was forced to cancel last March, the PIE show has become the second industry tradeshow that has been forced to close its doors in 2020. Hopefully it is the last tradeshow that is compelled to do so.

PIE organizers are currently exploring options for the event in Mid-September 2021 and will be keeping the pool industry informed about next year’s show.
