Nidec offers ‘Neptune’ efficient VS pump motor

The Neptune

™ Variable Speed Pool Pump Motor, from Nidec Motor Corp., of St. Louis, Mo., with fully integrated motor, control and user interface, and the ability to operate with a variety of external system controllers, provides programming flexibility and speed range capability.

By replacing an old single-speed pump motor with an easily installed and programmed Neptune, customers can quickly upgrade a properly functioning pump by turning it into a more energy-efficient product. A factory-installed run schedule allows the unit to function after setting the time of day.

The rugged enclosure of finned aluminum provides a water ingress protection level of IPX5 for longer field life in outdoor conditions. A low-temperature monitor can be set so the motor will automatically turn on during cold temperatures to keep water moving and help prevent pipe damage.

An outstanding feature of the Neptune is how quietly it runs. The motor control has no switching mechanisms, and when programmed for slower speeds, sound levels are typically much reduced compared to an older single-speed-motor-powered pump.

Other features include the ability to set up to seven daily schedules, adjustable priming time and speed and a menu keypad lockout feature. This fully integrated product enables simple drop-installation with no complex motor and control wiring; simply connect to the power supply and the unit is ready.

For more information, contact Nidec Motor Corp., Dept. SI, 8050 W. FlorissantAve., St. Louis, MO 63136. Phone 888-637-7333. Online www.acim.nidec.com.
