CAN YOU TOP THIS?

Welcome to the latest edition of our popular “Can You Top This?” column, featuring the newest entry in the Service Industry News “Horror File. ”

This issue’s entry comes to us from David White of Precision Pool & Spa in Kailua, Hawaii.

“This pool was built next to a lake in Hawaii, about 40 years ago.,” writes Dave.

“Unfortunately, the lake has risen over the years and now the equipment sits in about 16” of water.

“Luckily” the customers last repair tech did him a favor and came up with the ideal fix. Put unions on the pump, so when it rains and the lake rises, you can disconnect the pump and place it on the deck until the water recedes.

“Notice the submerged conduit and the junction box that gets submerged every time there is a hard rain.”

Other publications like to print lots of pretty pictures of beautiful pools, spas and well engineered installations.

At Service Industry News, we would rather go behind the scenes and take a closer look at the type of stuff our readers encounter everyday — cracked tiles, spaghetti plumbing, rats in heaters, cars in the pool and more!

When you are out in the field and you see something that doesn’t look right, send us an email along with a picture and a brief description: Attention Horror File, serviceindustrynewscd@yahoo.com.
