CAN YOU TOP THIS?

Welcome to the latest edition of our popular “Can You Top This?” column, featuring the newest entry in the Service Industry News “Horror File. ” This issue’s entry comes to us from Jim Stearns, of Stearns Pools and Spas, in Alvin, Texas.

“ As a homeowner, who no longer utilizes their pool, which would you choose? A remodel for $10K – $15K with continued monthly costs or a pool demo for $5K – $15K with a yearly savings of roughly $5K??,” writes Jim.

“A complete demo removes everything from the backyard decking, copping, tile, shell, plumbing and electrical. The hole is then backfilled with dirt resoded and it’s like the pool was never there. A complete demo can cost a homeowner anywhere from $10K to $20K.”

Tough choice, but we like the remodel option.

Other publications like to print lots of pretty pictures of beautiful pools, spas and well engineered installations.

At Service Industry News, we would rather go behind the scenes and take a closer look at the type of stuff our readers encounter everyday — cracked tiles, spaghetti plumbing, rats in heaters, cars in the pool and more!

When you are out in the field and you see something that doesn’t look right, send us an email along with a picture and a brief description: Attention Horror File, serviceindustrynewscd@yahoo.com.
