CAN YOU TOP THIS?

Welcome to the latest edition of our popular “Can You Top This?” column, featuring the newest entry in the Service Industry News “Horror File. ”

This issue’s entry comes to us from Dan Duker, of Vinyl Pools LLC in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Dan was featured on a popular TV show called Dirty Jobs, staring Mike Rowe — the man floating in the pool.

“Usually in pools that have been sitting for 6 months to a year, we’ll see all kinds of life, But this had been sitting for so long, I don’t think anything was able to survive in there,” says Dan.

“Fifteen years ago, a hurricane did the pool in, and its owners, who had some health issues, gave up on it.

“It is the kind of pool that would normally take at least two days to get done: one day to drain and another to muck out and install the new liner. But to do the job on Dirty Jobs, I had to get it done in less than a day.”

Other publications like to print lots of pretty pictures of beautiful pools, spas and well engineered installations.

At Service Industry News, we would rather go behind the scenes and take a closer look at the type of stuff our readers encounter everyday — cracked tiles, spaghetti plumbing, rats in heaters, cars in the pool, snakes in the plumbing, and more!

When you are out in the field and you see something that doesn’t look right, send us an email along with a picture and a brief description: Attention Horror File, serviceindustrynewscd@yahoo.com.
