CEC plans new energy efficiency standards

The California Energy Commission (CEC) is considering standards that could require pool maintenance systems to have a default operation schedule and internet connectivity. The purpose of these standards is to enable appliances to adjust electrical demand with the consumer’s consent, which is part of a broader initiative to manage energy use more effectively and reduce the strain on the power grid.

In their comments submitted to the CEC, the Pool and Hot Tub Alliance (PHTA) addressed the potential impacts of these standards on the industry and offered constructive suggestions. The organization believes it’s crucial for the industry’s voice to be heard in these discussions and is committed to ensuring the interests of its members are well represented.
