Check out our latest ‘Horror File’ entry

Welcome to the latest edition of our popular “Can You Top This?” column, featuring the newest entry in the Service Industry News “Horror File. ”

This issue’s entry comes to us from Kevin Misley of Mystic Pools in Park Ridge, New Jersey.

“My customer shut the pump off to clean the pump basket”, writes Kevin.

“For some reason she closed the valve on the discharge side of the system after the heater. She forgot to open it and turned on the pool pump. Because the water had no place to go, the water in the pump boiled, melted the 2.5” sweep 90 and blew a hole in it. Apparently it was a geyser! The system was off when I arrived and I was to make the repair and get it up and running.

“Remarkably, there was no damage to the pool pump.”.

Thank you for sending this Kevin. At Service Industry News, we would rather go behind the scenes and take a closer look at the type of stuff our readers encounter everyday — cracked tiles, spaghetti plumbing, rats in heaters, cars in the pool, snakes in the plumbing, and more!

When you are out in the field and you see something that doesn’t look right, send us an email along with a picture and a brief description: Attention Horror File, serviceindustrynewscd@yahoo.com.
