PHTA: Oldest, largest pool association

The Pool & Hot Tub Alliance (PHTA) is the world’s oldest and largest association representing the swimming pool, spa, and hot tub industry. It is 3,800 members strong, with companies representing all sectors of the industry: builders, service companies, retailers, manufacturers, distributors, commercial facilities, and more.

PHTA protects and advances the common interests of the industry by providing education, advocacy, standards development, research, and market growth to increase its members’ professionalism, knowledge, and profitability. With new and expanded member benefits, there has never been a better time to be a PHTA member.

Education — Continuing education and professional certification are key to elevating the industry and keeping customers happy. PHTA offers 10 professional certifications for service professionals, retailers, operators, inspectors, builders, and designers. GENESIS , a company of PHTA, is the premier pool industry education program that has been teaching a wide range of courses on business, construction, design, and engineering for more than 25 years. PHTA members receive up to $500 off all PHTA and GENESIS courses. Members also receive access to the new PHTA Class Pass, where you can view select PHTA and GENESIS

on-demand education and earn continuing education units (CEUs) for free.

Standards — PHTA is proud to be celebrating 40 years as an American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Accredited Standards Developer. PHTA is the leading industry organization recognized by ANSI to develop and promote national consensus standards for residential and public swimming pools, hot tubs, and spas.

As a member benefit, members receive one free digital copy of a PHTA/ANSI standard of your choosing each year, as well as discounts on all PHTA/ANSI standards. Members are encouraged to participate in the industry standards development process by volunteering for PHTA’s technical committees.

Industry Research — PHTA provides members with current industry research needed to plan for the future and stay ahead of the competition. Its business intelligence keeps members up to date on significant industry developments and helps identify all-important growth opportunities.

Members receive significant discounts (80% or more!) on PHTA’s research publications, including the Market Report, Economic Impact Study, and Business Operations Survey Report.

Members are also able to participate in Quarterly Pulse Surveys and receive free, customized benchmarking reports comparing your company to others in your region and nationally.

Workforce Development — PHTA has a wide range of resources to help members hire, train, and retain employees.

Its recently launched Work In Aquatics initiative has a publicfacing website for jobseekers looking for a career in the pool, spa, and hot tub industry with information on career progression, salary, and required or recommended education for different positions. There is also a Work In Aquatics online job board where PHTA members post open positions and find new employees. Only PHTA members can post jobs on Work In Aquatics, and all job postings are free through 2024.

PHTA has two apprenticeship programs registered with the U.S. Department of Labor: one for pool maintenance and service technicians and one for pool installer technicians.

Business Resources — PHTA is the industry’s most trusted voice in government. It advocates on behalf of its membership to federal, state, and local governments about issues impacting your business. Its government relations team is constantly monitoring legislative and regulatory issues and lobbying for measures that help its members and the industry.

Members receive discounts on event registration, insurance, Safety Data Sheets, rental cars, and much more through the PHTA Affinity Partner Program. It also offers a searchable database of toolkits, guidelines, manuals, and more in the PHTA Resource Library.

Being part of PHTA means you are part of a dedicated network of industry professionals who are here to support each other and make the pool, spa, and hot tub industry the best it can be.

From mentorship opportunities and scholarships to volunteer leadership positions with committees, councils, and chapters, there is a place for you in PHTA.

Membership dues are based on your company type and revenue.
