Today’s pool cleaners are debris specific

When it’s time for your customers to invest in a new automatic pool cleaner, they’ll inevitably turn to you for expert advice. Each pool owner has distinct preferences and requirements, making the selection process quite varied.

Some clients seek high-end models with the latest features, regardless of cost. Others are more budget-conscious, looking for a cleaner that effectively handles basic debris between maintenance visits. There are also those who want a balance between quality and price.

As a small business, you aim to provide not only an excellent pool cleaner but also one that’s not easily found online, avoiding direct price comparisons with platforms like Amazon.

The main choices boil down to three types of automatic pool cleaners: suction-side, pressure-side, and robotic cleaners. Many professionals now strongly recommend robotic pool cleaners due to significant technological advancements. Some models offer WiFi connectivity and dedicated apps, allowing control via smartphones. These robots are exceptional at tackling both large and fine debris, with superior scrubbing capabilities and the ability to clean walls and tile lines.

However, some service experts still prefer traditional suction- and pressure- side cleaners. These models tend to be more commonly used because some pool owners forget or underutilize their robotic cleaners, leaving them idle. Pressure- and suction-side cleaners, on the other hand, remain in the pool, continuously vacuuming and directing debris to the filter — a favored choice for certain professionals.

Regional factors also influence the choice. Pools in areas with heavy leaf or nut debris may find pressure-side cleaners more suitable, as robotic cleaners might struggle with such organic loads, despite their large debris bags. Additionally, some service professionals have experienced motor failures in robotic cleaners, making them favor the reliable, easily repairable pressure-side models.

For pools with screens or minimal plant debris, suction-side cleaners can be a practical option, even if high-end robots could potentially deliver better results.

Many industry experts frequently seek advice from peers on social media platforms like Facebook. On Facebook group pages such as ‘Aquatic Artisans Pool Lounge,’ ‘14psi Pool Industry Lounge,’ ‘Swimming Pool Industry Workers,’ and ‘Talking Pools,’ discussions often revolve around the best automatic pool cleaner.

By examining their insights, we highlight this year’s top choices among robotic, pressure-side, and suction-side automatic pool cleaners, helping both professionals and pool owners make informed decisions.
