NDPA needs pool service support

The National Drowning Prevention Alliance (NDPA) has emerged as a leading voice in water safety, offering pool service professionals a way to align business practices with safety leadership while gaining access to valuable resources and industry connections.

NDPA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to reducing drowning through education, advocacy, and collaboration. Its mission — raising awareness and equipping individuals and organizations with tools to prevent drowning — reflects a broad public health approach. Originating from a coalition of safety advocates and industry stakeholders, NDPA has grown into a national alliance that includes builders, service technicians, educators, public officials, and safety organizations.

For service professionals, that reach matters. Membership connects companies to a wider safety network, positioning them not just as maintenance providers, but as informed advocates for safer aquatic environments — a meaningful distinction in an industry where liability and customer trust are critical.

NDPA promotes a multi-layered approach to drowning prevention, including barriers, supervision, education, and safety technologies. These principles reinforce best practices service pros can share with customers — from proper barrier systems to safe chemical handling and overall pool safety awareness — while strengthening credibility beyond routine service.

Education and information access are central benefits. NDPA provides a data hub, research, and resource libraries with water safety materials, approved imagery, and educational tools that support customer communication and safety-focused marketing. Members also receive quarterly webinars and regular updates to stay current on evolving trends and research.

Networking is another key component. Events such as the National Water Safety Conference bring together professionals across sectors to share knowledge, explore new technologies, and build partnerships that can enhance service quality and operations. Co-branded safety toolkits further help integrate water safety messaging into everyday customer interactions.

Membership also offers practical advantages, including use of the NDPA logo, discounts on conferences and partner products, and access to member-only content and promotional opportunities. Annual dues are approximately $100 for individuals, $275 for nonprofits or government organizations, and $500 for for-profit businesses.

Ultimately, NDPA exists to save lives — while providing service professionals with credibility, resources, and a network dedicated to preventing drowning.
